Barneys is one of the few places I like to shop in San Francisco. When I say shop, I mean walk around.

la haine

I watched one of my favorite movies, La Haine, again. It's a French film about three teenage friends struggling to live in the projects of Paris. The title derives from a line spoken by one of the teenagers, Hubert: "La haine attire la haine!", "hatred breeds hatred." This is one of my favorite scenes, the roof party.

Roof parties = wasted youth

------------------------------------------------------

The scene in San Francisco is not much different. Basically, a bunch of pseudo interesting looking people decide to throw a party on the roof. No one cares what you do because no one is doing anything interesting themselves. Everyone is your best friend. You get wasted. And then you talk about it the next morning like it was something. It's kind of fun for about two months. But then you start to realize that you're just reliving the same scene from a movie, over, and over again.

**ETA: Sorry, I was drunk when I wrote this.

brand new bag

MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela Triangle Bag

Everyone always yells at me because I never bring a bag or a jacket. I used to think this was kind of endearing. But really, it's just annoying. It isn't the Céline Cabas tote. But this MM6 bag will do.

follow me down

The view from 18th & Mission.

A lot of people have asked why I've decided to move. Well, it's not so much that I'm so in love with New York. It's just that I can't be in San Francisco any longer. Although, I will miss shooting in this beautiful city. I've stopped growing. And I've stopped meeting good people. It really feels like a small town. But I like this photo because on this one particular day, it felt big.

This hair makes me feel fifteen years old. Maybe this is a good thing. I'm kind of craving a time when things were simple. I guess I'm just getting old. Oh well, at least my hair is getting younger.

isolated heroes

In 1999 Raf Simons collaborated with British photographer David Sims to produce the Isolated Heroes series of portraits – an intimate look at the Belgian teenagers whom Simons had cast for his show. The boy in the middle and to the right was actually one of my inspirations to dye my hair red.

------------------------------------------------------

Teenage boys are so fascinating to me. Tell me one teenage boy who doesn't enjoy the feeling of being godlike. In any scene in any city you'll find this type of boy. Maybe he's offering you drugs. Or maybe he's trying to take you home. But when the night is over – what's left. The antonym of godlike is impotent and weak (and they are both). YOUTH I$ A CRAZY THING.
