“hey will you hold my cigarette? do you want a four loko?”

It was the day after Thanksgiving. We were standing outside a liquor store on 24th & Folsom. Someone said to me, "Hey will you hold my cigarette? Do you want a Four Loko?" As I stood outside, holding his cigarette, a drunk old man came up to me. But he came up too close. So I screamed. And someone came out and pushed the drunk old man. He told him, "Cops are coming. And I’m going to fuck you up." But there wasn't any fighting. We had to go to a party.

essentials for living

1: Comme des Garçons, Sam Edelman, Storets, Chloe, Topshop, Dr. Martens
2: Marcel Wanders lamp
3: American Apparel bag, Audio Technica ATH-SJ1 headphones, vintage Helmut Lang bracelet, ck one perfume, Kartell lamp

I never wonder "what to wear today?" anymore. I only buy things when I need it. But I never compromise on taste. My wardrobe consists of a cashmere Marc Jacobs sweater, denim shorts, Junya Watanabe men's rider jacket, denim jacket, denim shirt, these denim jeggings with suede from TSR, and a few button down shirts from TSR, La Moxie and LUCYD ACYD. I wear ck one or Marc Jacobs perfume. And if I need a little color I wear my Nixon Time Teller watch or Chanel lipstick in Gabrielle or Enthusiast. This allows me to spend all my money on candles, boujie trips to the market, and my latest purchase... a hamster named Delilah.

lanvin x h&m

Lanvin for H&M has asked me to support an exclusive garment for auction for UNICEF. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to UNICEF, as part of H&M’s “All for Children” project.
It's an honor to be considered one of the 25 of the world's most influential fashion blogs (this 'ol thing). I'm currently in California so I didn't get to see the show. But I highly encourage you to bid on this look if you get a chance.

It would be nice if more girls in San Francisco dressed like this instead of looking like a coke binge or a shopping spree. It's been a big struggle for me to connect with fashion this past year. I remember when people not brands determined what items would become the "it" items. And what trends would become worthy of following. These days, whenever I see a girl with the latest Acne shoes or Alexander Wang anything. I'm like… who the fuck cares? I already knew that was supposed to be cool.

i like yer sunglasses

Céline Fall 2010 by Juergen Teller

I lost my Ray Bans last week. I'm looking for a replacement and I'm kind of in love with these Céline sunglasses. If you follow my tumblr you probably already know about my appreciation for Phoebe Philo's work. In an article in the New York Times (yes, I read the Times a lot) Art Director Peter Miles talks about what it's like to work with the designer on the brand's corporate identity:

“I don’t think I’ve ever worked with anyone so precise and detailed as Phoebe. She sees things microscopically. ‘Can you just make the logo two millimeters shorter?’ ‘Can you move it down there by three millimeters?’ I had to change things by the smallest margins on boxes, bags, ads, business cards, everything, but always for good reason.”

As much as fashion is a "business" and not so much an "art." I believe there's always a better way to do business.

Urban Outfitters November 2010 catalog

I like these two shots taken from the Urban Outfitters holiday catalog. There's something very sweet and gentle about them. Last month I took a walk with someone. I forgot where we were going but there were other people around us... I think. None of that seemed to matter. I like getting to know another person and I felt like I was getting to know him. We talked in his kitchen until four thirty in the morning. Then he walked me back to my car and we both said goodnight. It was very polite. And I thought to myself, "this is nice."

The second photo is my favorite. To have a strong point of view is very important. Fashion isn't just about clothes and accessories. It's about a mood. I know I talked about story before. Mood is equally important. Outfit photos aren't necessarily high fashion editorial. But if you're going to or expect to be taking advantage of the benefits of the fashion industry. The least you can do is attempt to convey a mood of something other than "buy me!" — fashion deserves better.

fall is here

Marc Jacobs cashmere sweater, Levi's DIY shorts, H&M men's belt, American Apparel tights, Margiela platforms, vintage Helmut Lang bracelet, Nixon watch

I bought this cashmere sweater at the Marc Jacobs store a few weeks ago and it was love at first site. I love things that are super regular. My friend Tim and I decided to celebrate the fall by going to Bi-Rite Market and picking up our version of dinner: gruyere, wild boar salami, pears, nuts, and red wine. Doing regular things in my super regular sweater.

eos max gold black

Here's a picture of me without blood. I'm wearing EOS Max Gold Black circle lenses. It's a little hard to see but there is about .00000001 of white space between my eyes. If I were to do it over again, I would order a different color other than black. This kind of makes me feel like a baby. According to this New York Times article looking like a baby is a good thing... weird.

“i miss you, come back to me, are you seeing someone else? i don’t understand, why don’t you love me?”

This is the only picture I have of me from Halloween. To be honest, it was kind of shitty. People who live in San Francisco suffer from "big fish, small pond" syndrome. It's a serious problem that you can tell by the way people treat each other here. No self respect. No standards of behavior. And when you end up at a warehouse party and the guy you're seeing refuses to stop his ex girlfriend (who just broke into his house but he justifies it as her being... "concerned") from crashing the party and expressing her general ex girlfriendness. But instead, tries to call you insecure. And not her CRAZY. These are good times to say to yourself I GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE.
