A day in SF PART 1

So I'm normally pretty discrete about documenting my day to day activities. I'm like... selectively shady like that. Anyways, I wanted to share what I did today (minus the work part ew... JK I love what I do). I've grown up in San Francisco most of my life. The places I go to aren't very flashy. But I like them because they feel... very San Francisco.

The Musée d'Orsay is currently holding a traveling exhibition of Impressionist painters at the De Young Museum. I've been to the d'Orsay several years ago, however it was nice to see it all again. This is my dad's favorite period, but I don't particularly care for it. I AM digging this still life though. Kind of great. The museum workers yelled at me after I took this. #rebel

Trying to kill some time... I engaged in some shoe porn text sharing. What? That's a thing. My contribution: Caroline Sieber's Celine sandals. Minimalism perfection. I AM OBSESSED WITH CELINE.

His contribution: Louis Vuitton

Dinner with my best friend. There seems to be some kind of fish theme to this day.

OK so this is kind of my dream house. One of my favorite places in the city is 20th & Sanchez. This area is just so beautiful. The homes are amazing, architectural, and unique. And the view is incredible.

The fog started to roll in. It was actually quite lovely to watch.

Me: What is that?
BFF: It's an antenna.
Me: For like what? The world!? It's huge.

ALEXANDER WANG Fall 2010

ALEXANDER WANG Fall 2010

This is best to watch in HD. I think I love Fabien Baron as much as I love Alexander Wang. My blog header was originally inspired by the font inside Interview magazine. First introduced by Fabien Baron. Actually, if anyone has access to this custom version of Monotype Modern I would be forever grateful. For those who have no interest in typography please enjoy the Abbey Lee Kershaw-ness.

It's been awhile...

I know it's been awhile since I last posted. Sometimes, I think it's a good thing to post more infrequently. It's kind of like the way I used to look forward to magazines each month. Blogging has spoiled our generation. We are so impatient now.

Today was especially hot so therefore strange. A text from my friend Heidi says it all:
I am having a crisis because of the hot weather.
We are the kind of people that love to play it fast and loose with words like "crisis," "disaster," and phrases like "OMG my life is over!" I want to make another vlog but it takes me so long to edit out all the times I say "like."

In case you don't follow my tumblr. Here's what I've been up to:
  • I love these Storets boots.
  • I got a tattoo -- a small one behind my ear. It's kind of difficult to photograph but I will try again next time.
  • My book deadline has been pushed up to September ie: right now. For those who are inquiring it will be available Fall 2011.
  • Sneak preview of the jewelry collaboration coming next week.
  • Slowly attempting to decorate my place. I'm kind of obsessed with light fixtures and/ or anything that emits a comforting glow. Go figure.
  • Boys are still weird and slightly stupid.

"Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore... "

This sign is rad. I think it used to be for a movie theatre, but all that's left is an abandoned Hollywood Video. Inside the video store there's this quote "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore... " Instantly, I feel like I'm in a 90s movie. If this were really the 90s I'd probably be Janeane Garofalo and I'd probably be working at this store.

I want to come back here and take pictures -- maybe when I'm not freezing my butt off.

Sweatpants!
I hate this couch!

i like yer boots

Top to bottom: Alexander Wang, Dr. Martens, Dr. Martens, Charles Anastase, Yesstyle, DSquared, Proenza Schouler

Trends are good when consumed in mild doses. These days, I like to go back to the same things. There is something special about a pair of perfectly worn in shoes. It doesn't matter if it's vintage or designer. Five years ago, I bought a pair of Comme des Garcons flat boots that are still my favorite shoes to this day -- they sit on my shelf most of the time, but maybe I'll wear them out today.

PS: I'm selling my red Chloe Docs. The end of an era.

teenage dream

Sowat ball earring and ring, ManiaMania "The Truth" earrings, Veridiaum prism ring

Did everyone watch The Rachel Zoe Project last night?
  • Need simple (real) gold and sterling silver bands. Something thin and delicate just like me. LOL kidding. Any recs?
  • I've been slowly working on piercing my ears so I can wear a row of small silver ball hoop earrings. I have three on each ear, and I'm looking to get three more on my left ear only. It's going to be great. Sort of Ann-Sofie Back inspired.
  • Crystals man... crystals...

The magic hour truly is like magic. This part of the city rarely gets enough love. It's kind of eerily quiet and perfect for a Sunday walk, sushi, and beer with a friend. I don't like places with a lot of people. It actually gives me anxiety... like going to the mall freaks me out... I guess that's why I often say I'm an introvert. We spotted this weird effect that reflected onto a row of houses. It almost looked like everything was underwater. Strange.

We went to a bar where my friend had first met this lesbian Latina he dated a few years ago. Apparently, she was hot but kind of crazy. Aren't we all? They also serve Corona in a can -- strange again.
